John Neff shot the footage that became Tony Greene Movie between March and May of 2014, a period leading up to and including his curatorial project centered on the paintings of the late artist Tony Greene at Iceberg Projects, Chicago. He slowly edited his forty-plus hours of footage over the following year and a half, arriving at the movie’s fifty-three minute total running time. Tony Greene Movie documents both the planning, installation, and reception of the Iceberg exhibition and other diverse scenes from the artist’s daily life around Chicago.
Tony Greene Movie at MOTHERBOX is the video’s first New York screening and will be shown to a small audience in the intimacy of an apartment gallery. Screenings will be at 7PM on both Saturday, October 8, and Sunday, October 9, 2016. There will be a reception following the screening both nights.
